Wouldn’t it be great if McCain ran a clean campaign like he wants to, like we all want him to? What if there were no attack ads coming out of the GOP machine for the whole campaign?
Frankly when I see the strategies people use in American political campaigns on both sides of the aisle I’m disgusted. is this what we’re voting for? Are these the people that are going to advise our leaders? Shiester-Slander Artists and Political Hit Men?
Wouldn’t it be great if Obama and the Dems hit McCain with everything they’ve got and he responded with Grace, Candor and Dignity?
Now I might be politically naive, who knows. But how many people do you know who respect Politicians?

Will she sue the DNC to seat Florida or Michigan delegates after they broke party rules and she agreed beforehand that they will not count?
Will she cry before another primary to garnish sympathy vote again like she did twice before?
Will she lend her campaign another 5 million dollars?
Will she continue unwarranted negative attacks ads?
Will continue to distort or lie about Obama’s records while not discussing hers?
Will she make more race baiting comments and hope to capitalize on the White Bcaklash?
What dirty tactic will she resort to that she hasn’t done so already?
Will she pick on another reporter who states an opinion about Chealsea to garnish votes from mother?
Where does the double standard end?
Will she encourage her supporters to sabotage voting polls to depress Obama votes like they did in New York?

There are several AGW deniers on this site who I don’t even know why they object to the AGW theory – if they even have a valid reason – because they’ve literally never made a scientific argument on this site. It seems to purely be about politics to them. So I would appreciate it if the contrarians would articulate exactly why they think the AGW theory is wrong.
If you believe that humans aren’t causing global warming, then what caused the ~0.5 deg C warming over the past 30 years? And please don’t say it’s just the urban heat island effect, because satellites show the same warming.
If you don’t dispute that humans are causing global warming, then please say so, and explain what problems you have with the theory (for example, feedbacks or climate sensitivity).
For AGW proponents feel free to explain what you think the best argument against the AGW theory is as well.
Whoever gives the best *scientific* answer wins. This means supporting your answer with scientific sources. I’m not interested in political conspiracy theories, ad hominem attacks, unsubstantiated lies, etc.

In the latest political ad by McCain he attacks Obama for not making time for the troops cause he couldn’t bring cameras even though he had visited the Walter hospital before without cameras. But in the ad it is stated that instead of visiting the troops Obama went to the gym, which showed him throwing a basketball. But the video was taking when Obama was visiting the vets.
How do you feel about McCain using this ad and using that video and that way to bring his supposed message?

By a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court on Thursday rolled back restrictions on corporate spending in federal campaigns. The decision could unleash a torrent of corporate-funded attack ads in upcoming elections.
“Because speech is an essential mechanism of democracy — it is the means to hold officials accountable to the people — political speech must prevail against laws that would suppress it by design or inadvertence,” wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy for the majority.
In his dissent, Justice John Paul Stevens accused the majority of judicial activism and attacked the use of corporate personhood in the case: “The conceit that corporations must be treated identically to natural persons in the political sphere is not only inaccurate but also inadequate to justify the Court’s disposition of this case.”
Republicans offered measured praise for the decision, but progressive good-government groups and Democrats responded angrily and vowed to fight back with legislation.
“With its ruling today, the Supreme Court has given a green light to a new stampede of special interest money in our politics,” said President Obama in a statement. “It is a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans… That’s why I am instructing my Administration to get to work immediately with Congress on this issue. We are going to talk with bipartisan Congressional leaders to develop a forceful response to this decision.”
Democracy 21’s Fred Wertheimer, for years a leading advocate of campaign finance reform, called the decision a “disaster for the American people and a dark day for the Supreme Court.”
“The Supreme Court majority has acted recklessly to free up corporations to use their immense, aggregate corporate wealth to flood federal elections and buy government influence. The Fortune 100 companies alone had combined revenues of $13 trillion and profits of $605 billion during the last election cycle,” Wertheimer wrote.
“Under today’s decision, insurance companies, banks, drug companies, energy companies and the like will be free to each spend $5 million, $10 million or more of corporate funds to elect or defeat a federal candidate — and thereby to buy influence over the candidate’s positions on issues of economic importance to the companies.”

Their new 30-second TV ad attacks Barack Obama’s record on education, saying that Obama backed legislation to teach ” ‘comprehensive sex education’ to kindergartners.” The announcer then says, “Learning about sex before learning to read? Barack Obama. Wrong on education. Wrong for your family.”
As a state senator in Illinois, Obama did vote for but was not a sponsor of legislation dealing with sex ed for grades K-12. But the legislation allowed local school boards to teach “age-appropriate” sex education, not comprehensive lessons to kindergartners, and it gave schools the ability to warn young children about inappropriate touching and sexual predators.
Republican Alan Keyes tried to use Obama’s vote against him in the 2004 U.S. Senate race. At the time, Obama spoke about wanting to protect young children from abuse. He made clear then that he was not supporting teaching kindergartners about explicit details of sex.
Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Tuesday of McCain’s ad: “It is shameful and downright perverse for the McCain campaign to use a bill that was written to protect young children from sexual predators as a recycled and discredited political attack against a father of two young girls.”

For example, one trait exhibited by legitimate news organizations is that when they print or read out “letters to the editor,” they do not only select letters that agree with their take on things or praise them. They select both complimentary and critical letters. Moreover, when they do select critical letters, they do not reply with sarcasm, ad hominem attacks, a counter attack, or by rolling their eyes. In fact, they usually do not reply at all. They just let the readers or listeners decide for themselves whether the criticism is valid or not.
What are some other examples of traits the differentiate legitimate professional news organizations from news organizations run by spin doctors? Does taking a certain political position automatically render a news organization invalid, or is it how they express their position and how they react to those with a different position that renders them biased and hence illegitmate?
