Democrats think it’s wrong that Democrat Obama’s children are mentioned in an ad though Democrats constantly attacked Republican President Bush’s daughters and found Democrats joking about raping Republican Gov. Palin’s 14 year old daughter funny. Why the double standard?

You say we have the “race card”, but you guys have the treason card.
Everytime somebody disagrees with America’s foreign policy, the pundits begin the attack and make a huge deal of it. After that, comes the rest of the media. It goes so far that even congress spends time voting on worthless resolutions. Freedom fries, moveon.org ad, and a bunch of other nonsense.

When I feel people are using 9-11 for their own profit or agenda, I truly fell ill. I know this is a capitalist, free society, but the 9-11 commemeratives? If a busineess wants to sell something for thirty bucks, they should donate a great deal of that profit for the families of the victims. Just my thoughts.
I felt some of the 9-11 magazine covers were plain Tacky. Sorry, had to put that in.
As far as the government, I do feel Bush used 9-11 to push a war agenda. Any candidate who places the towers in their ads? I would have to seriously think it over before I voted for that person.
Since 9-11, how many people have we lost to terrorist attacks as opposed to disease, natural disater, crime, etc. How many candidates in NY have used Katrina footage? We almost lost new Orleans to a devastating hurricane. I just feel people use 9-11 as a marketing ploy, and it sickens me.
Feelings?

Will she sue the DNC to seat Florida or Michigan delegates after they broke party rules and she agreed beforehand that they will not count?
Will she cry before another primary to garnish sympathy vote again like she did twice before?
Will she lend her campaign another 5 million dollars?
Will she continue unwarranted negative attacks ads?
Will continue to distort or lie about Obama’s records while not discussing hers?
Will she make more race baiting comments and hope to capitalize on the White Bcaklash?
What dirty tactic will she resort to that she hasn’t done so already?
Will she pick on another reporter who states an opinion about Chealsea to garnish votes from mother?
Where does the double standard end?
Will she encourage her supporters to sabotage voting polls to depress Obama votes like they did in New York?

Could an honest politician ever be elected these days? One who was able to answer questions in a straightforward way without the constant tap-dancing? One who had consistent set of values and wasn’t afraid to tell you exactly what is on his mind at the risk of alienating some? We have more ‘town hall meetings’ and ‘debates’ then ever before and yet in my opinion they have become more and more vacuous. It’s all about the way the candidates ‘appear’ and about how many different sides of an issue and interests they can pander to and get away with it. It’s about a guy who wants to bring change to Washington but looks like and acts like any other politician. Who wants change but then selects a VP who’s the epitome of a Washington insider. Another guy who vows to keep his campaign clean but turns around and launches vicious ad after vicious ad attacking his opponent. What can I make of all this?

As way of background, the man who allegedly shot the four officers to death was imprisoned in Arkansas for many years, but was granted “clemency” by Mike Huckabee while he was still governor.
For those of you who are too young to remember, the Bush campaign ran several ads attacking Michael Dukakis for Massachusetts’ “weekend furlough” program, in which prisoners were able to leave jail for the weekends under certain circumstances. One prisoner, Willie Horton, ended up killing someone while out on a weekend furlough. The “Willie Horton” ads were arguably the fatal blow to the Dukakis campaign.
With that in mind, is Huckabee’s political career effectively over after what happened in Washington state?

James Hansen is the head of NASA GISS. He was among the first scientists to predict the ensuing global warming in the late 1970s, and made one of the first global climate models which accurately projected the subsequent global warming in 1988. He’s battled NASA administrators who tried to influence his public statements about the causes of climate change and censorship of climate-related press releases by the White House.
Despite all of these accomplishments, AGW deniers consistently claim that Hansen is a “political hack” or that the falisifies data (even though other groups like the Hadley Centre have shown the same warming as NASA GISS).
On what do deniers base these ad hominem attacks on James Hansen?

Hello, I am new to this politics stuff. All the hype about the election got me interested. I have been watching some questions and answer and want to participate. I think I am pretty good with:
the verbal riposte
the ad hominem attack
the baseless accusation
the baiting question
circular logic
I have a fair grasp of:
the canned response
the confrontational phrase
irrelevant semantics
the emotional ploy
I admit i need to really work on:
the rhetorical jab
the logical fallacy
the loaded inquiry
the question-as-statement
Well do you think I’m ready? Or should I study the finer points some more first?

Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, always believed that his company should stay out of politics and stick to retailing.
Too bad his family didn’t listen to him. Today, the Walton family sinks millions and millions of dollars into influencing politicians and manipulating the legislative process.
Wal-Mart Watch is proud to launch a new website – WaltonInfluence.com – that tracks and analyzes the Walton family’s and Wal-Mart’s growing influence on American politics.
Visit it now and see just how much power the Waltons and Wal-Mart have in Washington:http://www.waltoninfluence.com
The Walton family and Wal-Mart spend millions of dollars every year to fund an extreme right-wing corporate agenda – one that is often in direct conflict with the interests of Wal-Mart’s most needy workers and shoppers.
Wal-Mart has lobbied against increasing port security, providing Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) on food products, raising the minimum wage, and implementing a Patients Bill of Rights.
Meanwhile, the Walton family spends tens of millions of dollars supporting legislation that would privatize Social Security, repeal the estate tax and create private school vouchers.
In August and October 2004 alone, Alice Walton gave $2.6 million to Progress for America, the Karl Rove-aligned 527 group largely credited for helping re-elect President Bush with vicious attack ads against John Kerry.
There’s a lot more information out there – but you’ll need to see it all to believe it. Take a few minutes to explore our new web site and then tell your friends, family and coworkers about it:http://www.waltoninfluence.com
Wal-Mart wants us to believe that it’s a family company – but the only family Wal-Mart cares about is the Waltons.
