Should Obama “get Tough”?
This is the advice that political pundits on MSNBC are giving Obama. “Get tough!” they say, “that is the only way you can win over Hillary Clinton!”
One of the things I have admired about Obama has been his reluctance to get into the name-calling mode. The last election was filled with it, with Karl Rove dreaming up his “flip-flop” accusation and the Swift Boat Ads. These kinds of accusations are merely character assassination, untrue, unverified and harmful even if they are proven to be lies. In the case of the Swift Boat Ads, all of Kerry’s superior officers AND his men testified that his actions were heroic and that he deserved his medals.
Are you tired of this kind of garbage in politics? Do you think it is possible to win these days without a vicious attack on your opponent? Should Obama get tough, or should he continue to rise above the fray and talk about the issues? Do these types of attacks and Attack Ads influence your vote?

Neither Clinton or Obama should get tough,or negative of each other at this point. They both are supposed to be standing for the same thing. We don’t want the Republicans to have a field day with the back stabbing going on in Novembers election.
Keep on topic which is important to the American people
1. Is the economy-Home Losses- Foreclosures
2.Health care
3.Education Costs
4.Iraq
These are some points they should be discussing and people want to hear!!!

I am perplexed at the amount of coverage this “monster” comment is getting. Big deal, the woman is a foreign policy advisor. Who really cares if she thinks Hillary is a monster? Guess what, a lot of the rest of the country thinks she is too. I personally wish the lady would have stood by her comment and not apologized for it.
sorry, my comment was more related to the answers you are getting, and less related to your question. I do think Barack needs to get tough in defending himself.

I think he should get tough but stick to the true issues. He needs to project himself as a strong leader. I don’t want to see him get dirty but he should make Hillary answer some questions about her 35 years of experience and her time in the White House she wants to claim. Make her say why the Clintons refused to defend America when we were attacked by terrorist during their term in Office. Maybe she can tell America what has changed since then because they failed to get Bin Laden when they could have gotten him.
edited: To Laura C: It was reported that the Hillary camp also contracted Canada and said to take Hillary’s comments about NAFTA with a grain of salt. I wonder if the Media especially the Clinton News Network (CNN) will report this over and over. I bet they will not say anything or bury it so fast.

All I know is, I do not trust obama, whenever you see obama on tv, he does something for a black family, or he holds a black child ! I never see him hold a white child, or help a white family!!
This all makes me think, he wants the white vote only to get what he is after, then adios amigos!!!!!!

well, obama does need to get tough..but he has to do it w/ a double face. Keep clinton in a corner while still inspiring the world..
Unfortunately people think u r “weak” if you do not cut someones throat..sadly the majority..so obama has to fight back in order to be initiated into the “political gang”…
If we don’t agree with the way the MEDIA is FORCING obama to get tough (and we KNOW that once he DOES get tough..they will make it look bad!)..we need to take action..

He should continue to stay above “politics as usual”. Even if he ultimately loses he will have made an impact on how elections are run and he will have shown that you can be competitive by having the conversation that voters want to hear and not trying to scare them that the other candidate will run the country into the ground. His campaign will change American politics win or lose
